The tale of how fantasy became reality in the heart of Vancouver
Honestly? It began with a wild dream and way too much coffee. Back in 2018, our founder Maya Chen was sketching dragons on napkins during yet another boring hotel conference. She looked around and thought... why's everything gotta be so bland?
Maya's dragon doodle caught the eye of investor James Wu, who happened to be sitting next to her. "I'd actually stay there," he said. And just like that, we had funding and zero idea what we were getting into.
After checking out 47 properties (yeah, we counted), we stumbled on this old heritage building on Mythic Boulevard. It had character, history, and oddly enough, gargoyles already installed. Felt like destiny, honestly.
Two years of construction chaos. We brought in fantasy artists, theatrical designers, and one incredibly patient architect who somehow made our crazy ideas actually work. Every suite got its own story, its own vibe.
March 15th, we opened our doors. The first guest cried happy tears in the Phoenix Suite. We knew we'd done something special. Within six months, we were booked solid for the next year.
Here we are today. We've hosted proposals, birthdays, anniversaries, and even a couple weddings. Every guest becomes part of our ongoing story. And Maya? She's still sketching new ideas on napkins.
The folks who make the magic happen every single day
Founder & Dream Keeper
The napkin sketcher herself. Still can't believe this is real life. When she's not running the hotel, she's probably at a Renaissance fair.
Operations Director
The guy who said yes to the napkin sketch. Somehow keeps this circus running smoothly. Coffee addict and spreadsheet wizard.
Head Chef, Dragon's Den
Turned down three Michelin-starred spots to join us. Creates dishes that look like edible art. Her dragon fruit creations are legendary.
Spa & Wellness Director
Trained in Japan, Thailand, and somehow also knows ancient Celtic techniques. Guests book treatments months in advance just for him.
Chief Concierge
Knows every secret spot in Vancouver. Can get you reservations at sold-out restaurants. Basically has superpowers. We don't question it.
Events Coordinator
Former theater director who brings serious drama to every event. In a good way. Your wedding will literally be a production.
We're pretty stoked about these, not gonna lie
Luxury Travel Magazine
They flew in from London just to see if the hype was real. Spent three nights and gave us top marks across the board.
Canadian Hotel Association
First themed hotel in BC to get this rating. We literally jumped up and down when we got the call. Professional, we know.
TravelersChoice.com
Based on actual guest reviews. This one hits different because it came straight from the people who stayed with us.
Vancouver Tourism Board
They said we're putting Vancouver on the map for unique stays. Making our city proud feels pretty amazing, honestly.
Interior Design Council
Our architect nearly fainted. Then framed the certificate. It's hanging in his office right next to photos of our suites.
Hospitality Excellence Awards
Won this just six months after opening. Talk about a confidence boost when you're still figuring things out.
Whether you're looking to stay, work with us, or just swing by for a coffee at Dragon's Den, we'd love to meet you. Every guest adds a new chapter to what we're building here.
